Four Eyes Edit is a partnership of two professional editors who have worked together since 2006. Adela Brito and Margarita Kurtz have served as developmental editors and copy editors to bestselling authors and first-time writers.
They began their editorial careers working at the New Yorker, AdWeek, Scholastic, and McGraw-Hill. There, they learned about the publishing process and the stages of editorial development.
Adela Brito, a Miami native, holds a BA in English from Florida International University. She began her professional career as a teacher, and then became an Educational Director for Sylvan Learning Center.
Still passionate about teaching, she provides SAT prep and writing instruction.
Adela enjoys reading about pop culture and is a music, movie and book critic. She writes memoir pieces and is currently working on her first novel, Blue Suede Blues, and is pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Memphis.
Margarita Kurtz, a native New Yorker, graduated from Purchase College, State University of New York with a BA in Literature.
Margarita loves reading, creative writing, and biking. She writes travel memoir based on her life experiences as the daughter of Mexican and Greek immigrants. She is currently working on an experimental memoir of her many trips to Mexico called Las Cronicas de Mexico and a few short stories.
She is also is a former ESL Teacher, Academic Tutor, and Developmental Reading and Writing Tutor to adults. She is passionate about literacy and writing and plans to tutor again in autumn 2016 in Memphis.
As veterans of creative writing courses (memoir, fiction, business writing, grammar) at Gotham Writers’ Workshop in New York City, they continue to sharpen their writing and critiquing skills.
Four Eyes Edit was a finalist of the 2009 Third Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition.
